THE WHISKEY CREEK JOURNAL

The Community Handbook

The standards we share, so everyone has room to tell a good story. These are out-of-character community rules.

Community

People Before Characters

Personal abuse, discriminatory slurs, sexual harassment, real-world threats and disclosure of private information have no place in this community. A fictional disagreement must never become a campaign against the person behind a character.

Roleplay

Build a character others can meet

Choose a grounded name and a history that leaves room for development. Keep speech and behaviour suited to the setting. Give others opportunities to respond rather than deciding their actions or outcomes for them.

Roleplay

Keep character knowledge separate

Act on what this character has learned in play. Livestreams, private chats, other characters and staff tools are not sources of in-character intelligence. Do not transfer possessions or favours between your own characters to gain an advantage.

Scenes

Give danger and injury weight

Respond to believable threats and injuries as your character would. Take time to recover and allow medical scenes to develop. Being unhappy with an outcome is not a reason to dismiss it or force another player to accept your preferred ending.

Scenes

Let the story lead the conflict

An attack needs an understandable in-character cause and an opportunity for interaction. Avoid surprise violence used only to collect kills or loot. Escalate in a way that leaves others a meaningful part in the scene.

Fair play

Finish the scene fairly

Do not disconnect, switch characters or use travel and storage systems to escape an active encounter. If your connection fails, return when practical and contact the other participants or staff so the scene can be resolved.

Fair play

Report faults instead of profiting

Do not use cheats, automation or unintended mechanics for an advantage. Stop using a bug when you discover it and report it privately. Keep any related items untouched while staff investigate.

Crime & groups

Crime should create interaction

Robberies and hostage scenes should offer believable demands and a route to resolution. Do not repeatedly farm the same people for supplies or use friends as staged victims. Specific robbery limits and group limits must follow the county’s published policy.

Community

Respect boundaries

Do not introduce sexual violence or sexual content involving minors. Obtain clear agreement before other sensitive themes and stop when someone withdraws consent. Staff can help resolve a boundary issue privately.

Public roles

Use public roles responsibly

Law, medical and other public-service roles should create opportunities for fair scenes. Keep personal disputes out of official decisions. Record the basis for consequential actions and follow the published procedures for your department.

Support

Bring disputes to staff

Keep playing safely where possible, then use a private report with the people involved, approximate time and relevant context. Submit evidence without editing away the surrounding events. Do not organise public pile-ons or retaliate against someone for making a report.

Support

Rules and staff review

Staff may investigate disruption, remove unfair gains, or restrict access according to the circumstances. Ask for a review through the community’s support process if you believe a decision was mistaken. Published updates apply from their stated effective date.
